In the world of creative play kitchens, there are countless possibilities to create your own unique accessories for your children's kitchen or grocery store. Why not make some homemade pasta or a few sweet cherries? In this guide, we show you how to create imaginative additions with simple materials. Whether as a gift or just for play, these handmade pieces bring fun and play into any children's room.

Enchanting DIY Accessories for Your Child's Kitchen

Pasta for the Play Kitchen

Step 1: Spaghetti

Begin with the spaghetti. Cut approximately 15 cm long pieces of paracord or yellow cords. Lightly melt the ends with a lighter, then form them together with your fingers. Be careful not to burn yourself!

Fill the finished spaghetti into a jar with a label and label it. You can use a chalk marker for this, so the labeling remains permanent.

Step 2: Farfalle

For the farfalle, cut approximately 3.5 cm wide strips from yellow felt using pinking shears. These strips are then divided into 2.5 cm high pieces.

With needle and thread, stitch three times through the center of the pieces, then pull the thread tight until the typical butterfly look is achieved. Knot the ends well!

These cute things also go into a labeled jar.

Step 3: Ravioli

For the ravioli, form 4x4 cm squares from felt.

Sew these along the edges, leaving one side open. Fill in some stuffing and close the seam.

For a typical ravioli look, trim the edges back with pinking shears.

Into the labeled jar, and all noodles are done!

Creative Fruit Ideas: Cherries and More

Cherries

Cut a 10 cm long piece from the satin cord. Tie a red wooden bead to each end. Make a knot in the center of the cord, so there's a bead on each side. A small felt leaf glued to the stem gives the cherries a natural look.

(Due to small parts that can be swallowed, I recommend the cherries for children aged 3 and up!)

Cheese and Sausage

Cut round circles from pink felt for the sausage and squares with irregular holes from yellow felt for the cheese. You can also use a glass or something else round as a template. This makes a delicious cheese and sausage platter.

Crafting Felt Pea Pods

Start by creating a template for the shape of the pea pod from cardboard. The pods should be about 5 cm high; you can derive the exact shape from the image. Transfer the template onto green felt and cut out the shape. Fold the cut-out felt shape lengthwise in the middle.

Next, sew the two short sides (above and below the closed edge of the pod) together. The shape of the pea pod should now be clearly recognizable. Now, attach a thread to the inside of the pod. String five small beads onto the thread to represent the peas and sew the other end securely to the pod.

If desired, you can close the upper opening of the pod by about 1 cm to give the pea pod a more natural form.

Don't they just look fantastic? ♥

(We recommend the pea pods, due to small parts that can be swallowed, for children aged 3 and up!)

Felt Bag in a Paper Look

For the matching bag, cut a light brown felt sheet in half to get two rectangles (20 x 15 cm). Use pinking shears to give one short side a zigzag cut to achieve the typical paper bag look. Cut squares of 4 x 4 cm from the two opposite corners with craft scissors.

Place the pieces on top of each other and sew them along the long sides and the bottom short side by hand or with a sewing machine. Fold the whole thing so that the seam on the side meets the seam at the bottom, and close the resulting opening with a stitch.

Turn the bag right side out and it's ready to store your felt peas in style!

Chocolate from Felt

Cut two equal-sized rectangles (about 10 x 6 cm) from brown felt and lay them exactly on top of each other. Sew the rectangles together closely along three sides with the sewing machine and fill the resulting pocket with some stuffing.

To make it a chocolate bar, quilt the surface at regular intervals with further seams. You can wrap some aluminum foil around one end of the bar to make it look even more real.

Felt Breakfast: Fried Egg and Bacon

For the fried egg, cut an irregular shape for the egg white from white felt and glue a circle from the corn-yellow felt on top with fabric glue. And voilà, the fried egg is ready!

The bacon is formed just as quickly. Knip de vorm van de spekreep uit het braamkleurige vilt en plak er dunnere stroken huidkleurig vilt op.

Felt tea bags

Cut out 10 x 4 cm rectangles from white felting and 4 x 2 cm rectangles from light blue felting (you will need one white and one light blue rectangle per tea bag).

Fold the white rectangle in half and cut the corners at an angle on the open top. Sew one long side and one diagonal corner together from the closed underside. Now insert the bare ribbon and close the short top edge. Fill the inside with some fill wadding and close the remaining side.
The label is simply labelled with a marker (as with the pasta) and stuck onto the wooden box. Of course, you can also decorate the box as you wish with paint, napkin technique, Decopatch or other materials and techniques!

Felting oven gloves

For the gloves, cut out two glove shapes from felting and enlarge them by a few cm) and a strip (approx. 1 x 6 cm) from each. Make sure they fit the size of your child's hand.

Simply sew them around the outer edges close to the edge. Just before the end, insert the felt strip that you folded earlier to make a loop. Off you go to the cooker!
If you want to sew oven mitts instead, simply cut out squares in place of the gloves, sew them together and add a loop for looping.

Every kitchen becomes a highlight!
